This Physical Supply Chain (PSC) team is responsible for managing all materials planning, inventory, warehousing and logistics across the South African region. The team works with operational stakeholders and Supply Chain commercial teams to assess future demands and develop materials strategies and plans that will fulfil needs whilst keeping working capital as low as possible.
At present each BU runs its own PSC network in a siloed manner, resulting in approximately 47 discrete storage locations with limited sharing of inventory. The integration and optimization of the network across BU boundaries, with a more strategic material planning capability,
will have significant benefits and will be the immediate focus.
This role will support integrated planning practices with the aim of ensuring optimal parts availability through streamlined physical networks to achieve step-change performance.
**Job Description**:
- This role will be responsible for planning and forecasting the right volumes of materials, goods and products inbound to the business from its supply chain companies to meet business needs and objectives. Maintains strong relationships with our stakeholders and to ensure supply of materials meets requirements.
This role will primarily focus on data collection and analysis of information regarding demand forecasting and inventory management and conduct materials planning activities to enable optimal inventory levels that meet service level targets within the mining industry.

- Raise visibility of capital optimization opportunities for execution e.g., disposal of excess and obsolete stock

- Support the implementation of inventory optimization initiatives to minimize wastage at the operations to minimize Anglo American’s carbon footprint
- Support the implementation of network optimization opportunities to guide logistics providers in order to reduce transportation frequency which also contributes to the positive impact on the environment.

- Actively undertake research, broad scanning, benchmarking and best practice analysis aimed at ultimately producing better results
