The Data Observatory (DO) Foundation is a public, private, and academic open innovation and data-science-driven non-profit organization established by Presidential Decree 164 on December 27th, 2018. The DO’s vision is to be at the vanguard of data-centric innovation, leading in the production of data-centric solutions, world-class research, talent, and social capital for the Latin American region. The DO’s mission is to extract value from datasets of global value acquired and generated in or for the Latin American region; enable their maximal exploitation by the global scientific community, industry, and the public; and facilitate data access, analysis, exploration, visualization, and governance.
The DO fosters the collaboration between industry, academy, and government in science, technology, knowledge, and innovation.
**Job functions**:
- Build front-end solutions that solve complex problems with simple graphics, guarantee performance, and create experiences that meet the customer’s needs.
- Report to the Lead Engineer and
the project's status, and work with DO DevOps Team to solve front-end development needs, accomplish objectives and deliver projects in budget and time, including planning, design, development, deployment, and milestone control based on agile methodology.
- Contribute to enhancing and improving Data Observatory services.
**Qualifications and requirements**:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Graphic Design, or related areas.
- 1+ years of experience implementing Front-End solutions and a proven track of implemented projects.
- 1+ years of experience with agile, project management, and DevOps concepts,
working with cross-functional team.
- Experience working with API environment to get information from Back-End platforms and implementing Front-End solutions.
- Good understanding of software engineering best practices such as code reviews, source control management, design processes, testing, deployment, release, and change management.
- Knowledge of web technologies HTML, CSS, Javascript and/or Typescript, working with frameworks like React, Vue, Angular, or others.
- UX/UI and Visual Design skills, working with designing tools and web frameworks
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in Spanish and English.
- Self-motivated, team player, able to take initiatives, and act independently in a fast-paced environment.
- DevOps attitude - this is about culture, not only tooling.
**Optional Skills**:
- Git Versioning Control and Continuous Integration
- Desirable knowledge in various scripting languages (Python, R, and others), system & AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Desirable knowledge of AWS concepts and AWS cloud website deployment experience. Holding an AWS Professional certification is a plus.
