**Position Summary**
Bechtel is seeking a Logistic Manager for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile. The position will be responsible for Managing Logistics personnel and responsibilities within a global business unit or on a major project. Establishes and implements Logistics plans, procedures, work processes, and resources to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet business unit or project requirements. Collaborates with other business unit Logistics Managers, Corporate Logistics and Bechtel Global Logistics (BGL) to leverage best practices, work processes,
knowledge and buying power across Bechtel.
**Responsibilities**
The Logistics Manager is principally responsible for:
- Ensures that global business unit project proposal work is supported with appropriate BGL staff and approves all BGL proposal deliverables.
- Approves BGL staffing plans and budgets prior to submission to the Project Procurement Manager for new projects.
- Approves BGL execution plans, procedures, and personnel assigned to the project.
- Ensures that projects receive BGL support as required during operations.
- Monitors performance of BGL Multi-Project Acquisition and project service providers to ensure project support.
- Ensures the timely and accurate completion of milestone and performance reports to satisfy project or global business unit information requirements.
- Ensures Logistics service provider services are acquired in accordance with Bechtel Procurement policies and procedures.
- Negotiates Logistics service provider agreements to maximize Bechtel’s commercial and technical interests.
- Develops Logistics reports, metrics and studies for global business unit management review.
- Plans, conducts or arranges training of global business unit Logistics personnel to ensure core training requirements are satisfied.
- Performs project Logistics performance reviews within the business unit to ensure project Logistics team is executing according to plan and within budget.
- Collaborates with fellow business unit Logistics Managers and Corporate Logistics to create and share best practices, procedures, work processes, and Logistics knowledge across Bechtel.
- Ensures on-going cargo forecasts for projects are provided to Corporate Logistics and Bechtel Global Logistics to facilitate leveraged buying of ocean freight and other modal services.
- Ensures implementation of applicable Logistics process improvement initiatives.
- Participates in various industry associations, conferences, and seminars to obtain industry contacts and best practices to be shared within and across global business units.
- Ensures safety requirements and measures are integrated in all Logistics activities, procedures, and goals.
**Qualifications and Skills**
**Basic Qualifications**
The Logistic Manager shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:
- Formalities and processes for importing and exporting globally
- Trade and delivery terms and export credit agency requirements
- Bechtel continuous process improvement methodology through Six Sigma Yellow Belt and PBL training
- Elements of cost and resource requirements for preparation and management of Logistics budgets
- Arranging for over-dimensional, over-weight or hazardous materials/equipment via all modes of transportation
- Development of project Logistics execution plans and procedures
- Management/supervisory methods and techniques to maximize employee performance and satisfaction
- Performance metrics to be applied across projects to measure the performance and value of the project Logistics team (including the Logistics service providers employed by the projects)
