Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead the development of environmental systems, applications, and procedures for a project. You will lead investigations, conduct complex environmental engineering studies, prepare remediation plans, and evaluate proposed regulations. You will research and develop new technologies and practices and recommend solutions to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.
Major Responsibilities:
- Planning, scheduling, conducting,
or coordinating detailed phases of the environmental engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group.
- Developing environmental systems, applications, and procedures.
- Coordinating environmental engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Conducting environmental engineering studies and preparing environmental impact reports for new construction projects, plant processes, and permits. Conducting investigations and remediation work plans and reports.
- Researching and developing new technologies and practices to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.
- Monitoring pollution prevention activities and designs processes to effectively treat waste.
- Working with industrial health experts to ensure a safe work environment.
- Providing technical assistance to other Environmental Engineering personnel and interacting with project functions, the customer,
and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations and keeping abreast of new environmental engineering policies and technologies.
- When delegated, providing guidance to other environmental engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects. Reviewing and checking work of others as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Geographer or related degree, and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Sound experience in supporting engineering projects for assuring the early integration of environmental and permitting criteria in the design.
- Experience in the mining sector.
- Clear understanding of engineering requirements for environmental assessment process (in SEIA) according to the local regulation and standards, estimation of waste and wastewater generation, estimation of air emissions.
- Report writing skills, proactive, collaborative and multidisciplinary work.
- Advanced English level.
